Why Blue Badge is Best…

…we are not known as Yorkshire’s best guides for nothing!

The coveted Blue Badge is awarded by The Institute of Tourist Guiding in recognition of guides who have been through accredited training programmes, and reached the highest standards in tourist guiding.

It is a mark of quality and a re-assurance that we guides not only know our stuff, but can communicate it in a professional, engaging manner whilst following guiding best practice.

To be awarded the Blue Badge – all the Yorkshire guides are trained over an 18 month period as well as sitting a number of written papers, practical examinations and submitting a tour planning project.

There are lots of people plying their trade as tour guides – but hiring a self taught guide can often mean their lack of training and knowledge can lead to a disappointing experience.

The Yorkshire Association of Blue Badge Tourist Guides are proud of the fact that we can make a good experience great. By hiring a Yorkshire Blue Badge Guide – you can guarantee a knowledgeable, friendly guide dedicated to providing great days out.

We are great ambassadors for a great county – we really are Yorkshire’s Best Guides.

The Institute of Tourist Guiding was set up in 2002 with the support of the Department of Culture, Media & Sports and Visit Britain and has since been instrumental in raising the profile and status of tourist guiding in the industry nationwide.

Many of our guides can guide in other languages.
