Qualified Blue Badge Guide with 20 years experience.

Hello. My name is Tess, Blue Badge Guide for Yorkshire, Cumbria, the Lake District, and the Liverpool City Region. Originally from London, I have made my home in the friendly and welcoming north, and qualified as a Blue Badge Guide 20 years ago.

I live in the Lune Valley between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks and look forward to welcoming you to the natural beauty of northern England.

I would love to introduce you to vibrant cities such as York, Ripon, Leeds, Bradford, Hull, Liverpool or Carlisle, and open your eyes to the fascinating stories of northern England’s thriving market towns and villages including the Yorkshire towns of Harrogate, Beverley, Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Skipton, Thirsk or Whitby, not forgetting my own personal favourite: my home town of Kirkby Lonsdale, a hidden gem, nestling in the valley of the River Lune and described by the influential art critic and social thinker John Ruskin as “one of the loveliest scenes in England – and therefore, the world”. The Yorkshire Dales, Bronte Country and Herriot Country are particular favourites, and I love leading countryside walking tours through this very special corner of England: at a pace to suit you!

I guide in English and German and also work as a freelance translator and interpreter from German, French, Italian and Spanish into English.

I am very happy to plan your tour and compile itineraries based upon your own personal interests.
