I was not born in Yorkshire, but moved here after University in 1977 and married a Yorkshire Lass. We lived in Yorkshire until 1980 and then started our travels with my job. After 35 years working in the international chemical industry, 19 of which were spent overseas, we returned to Yorkshire in 2012 and were delighted to rediscover this beautiful county and how its offer to visitors had improved over those years.

After giving tours to many friends who came to visit, it seemed a logical step for me to train as a Blue Badge Guide when the opportunity arose on 2013.

Since qualifying in June 2015, I am enjoying the opportunity to share my knowledge and insights with visitors whilst guiding them around the great cities, towns, gardens and historic attractions that Yorkshire has to offer.

I have a particular interest in the stories behind what can be seen on a guided tour – the reasons why a building or garden is where it is, and what has happened to it and inside it during its history. I am also fascinated by our industrial history and the story of the railways, which have left a telltale legacy on cities, towns and rural areas.
